What is an Infared Sauna?

An infrared sauna is a type of sauna that uses infrared light to heat your body directly rather than heating the air around you like a traditional steam sauna. The infrared waves penetrate the skin and warm you from the inside out, which many people find more comfortable and easier to tolerate. Infrared saunas typically operate at 120–150°F (49–65°C) — lower than traditional saunas, which usually range from 150–195°F (65–90°C). Because the air temperature is lower, you can often stay inside longer while still producing a deep sweat.
